12″ x 16″ watercolor
Lately, I have spent so much time painting in oils and acrylics that it was time to get back to my favorite medium, watercolor. I would enjoy hearing from other artists, especially those who paint with watercolor.

Under painting is complete and now I can concentrate on greater care with color, depth and detail. This is one of two projects currently in progress for my vineyard series.

Beach Scene 13 is a simple scene of two women taking pictures of one another. 🎨
I photographed this painting in natural morning light and it makes such a difference! My previous post showed so much yellowing (shown below)plus I made a few minor changes.

Painting plein air at Sycamore Cove Beach. Painting in the sand with people around is a challenge, especially since I am so new to plein air painting, but I enjoyed the experience and look forward to many more times to paint this way. The first scene, below, seemed rather stiff to me so I painted the same scene a second time with mainly a palette knife and a bit of brush work. Between realism and impressionism, I seem to have two extremes of styles but as I continue painting and grow as an artist, I hope to have one distinct style of my own emerge.
